| Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture |
The latest standard for carrier grade switching systems is Advanced TCA, ATCA (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture). Developed by the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computers Manufacturers Group) organization, the Advanced TCA telecommunication system standard has the most extensive input of any architecture standard to date and is being backed by more than 100 companies including many of the large players such as Intel, Lucent, and Motorola.

| Fan Controller Technologies and Motor Efficiency |
It is generally understood that adding speed control to a fan will save energy when the fan is operating at less than full speed; thus improving motor efficiency. With the wide range of control technologies available (TRIAC control, variable frequency control, and AC to DC inverter control), determining the most energy efficient solution can be complicated. The test results discussed here attempt to normalize some of the inherent differences and make an equal comparison for using different types of motor controllers. This comparison assumes that only single-phase AC power is available.

SmartFan Nimbus is a compact, digital fan control designed for the HVAC, electronics and industrial controls markets. Nimbus automatically controls single-phase (PSC, Shaded Pole) AC fans, motors and pumps in applications such as humidity control, room pressurization, equipment cooling, room ventilation, heat exchangers and water circulation.
Nimbus was selected as the winner of the 2003 AHR Expo Innovation Award for Ventilation!!! Nimbus regulates fan speed from a control signal (4-20mA, 0-10VDC, thermistor). Automatic voltage and frequency detection, current ratings up to 7.5A and mounting configurations including DIN rail and 4x4 job box make this microprocessor-based design extremely flexible and economical.
Recent enhancements to the Nimbus include an on-board pressure transducer option, selectable fixed speed settings and CUL recognition. Benefits of using SmartFan include acoustical noise reduction, temperature regulation, greater product reliability, increased fan life, improved safety and energy savings.
